GREEN TEA FOR WEIGHT LOSS AND MUCH MORE!

To tell you the truth i have hated tea since I was a child! I just could never understand what the whole fuss was about, as soon as I was old enough I switched to coffee! However, today’s article isn't about my love hate relationship with tea. It’s about a substance that can help you in your battle against fat and many other health challenges and that substance is green tea. Green tea or Camellia Sinensis is a plant that has been around for centuries and its fat burning properties have been known for many years.

I am a recent convert to the benefits of green tea, for years I had been sceptical and even dubious of its benefits as there are many green tea brands out there that are expensive laxatives at best and dangerous poisons at the worst! A few years ago green tea was almost forgotten in the health and fitness world due to the many substandard brands that destroyed its reputation. Its reputation has recently received a boost based on new research that has shed light on some hitherto overlooked and undiscovered benefits of green tea extract, and I have to confess that I am now a believer. The benefits of green tea Include fat burning, improved immune function and improved cardiovascular health. Below are some of the benefits of this wonderful brew in detail:

     BENEFITS OF GREEN TEA SUPPLEMENTS

1.       FAT BURNING:

This is the primary reason we consume this bitter stuff! Green tea has good fat loss properties. Its works through a combination of catechins which is an antioxidant found in green tea and caffeine which is also present in green tea. Together they work by raising your metabolism and helping your body burn more fat as energy. Please note that if you are a heavy coffee drinker (3 to 6 cups a day) you might not get many benefits from green tea.

2.       IMPROVED BRAIN FUNCTION:

Green tea will not only make you slimmer, it turns out it can make you smarter! Researcher have found out that green tea contains compounds that help improve brain function by allowing the neurotransmitters in your brain function at their best, thereby improving your ability to solve problems, reduce anxiety etc.

3.       REDUCED RISK OF CANCER:

Cancer is caused by uncontrolled cell growth and oxidative cell damage is a major contributor. Green tea contains powerful antioxidants which help fight off the effects. Studies found that women who drank green tea had a 22% less risk of developing breast cancer and men who consumed green tea supplements had a 48% less risk of developing prostate cancer.

4.       PROTECTS THE BRAIN FROM DEGENERATIVE DISEASES:

It has been found that green tea can help defend the brain against such degenerative diseases as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease which affect the neurotransmitters in the brain. Catechins in green tea help protect these transmitters.

5.       CAN HELP LOWER THE RISK OF DIABETES:

Diabetes has reached epidemic proportions in our country today; it is characterized by reduced sensitivity to insulin and high blood sugar. Studies have shown that consumption of green tea and its supplements over time can help to improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar levels.

6.       REDUCED RISK OF HEART DISEASE:

Cardiovascular diseases such as heart attack and stroke are the number one killers in the world today. Studies show that green tea can improve some of the risk factors of these diseases. Studies have shown that green tea can help reduce cholesterol, green tea also helps improve the antioxidant capability of blood and this helps increase HDL (Good cholesterol) while reducing LDL ( bad cholesterol).

CAUTION:

While green tea in all forms has an overall positive effect on the body, it is important to exercise caution. Too much of anything can be bad for you and the same applies to the consumption of green tea and green tea extract. To be safe, do not consume more than 3 cups of green tea at once and if taking it in supplement form do not take more than 200mg to 400mg doses a day for best effects. Personally I can’t stand drinking any form of tea, so I am taking a green tea extract in capsule form and I stick to a daily dose of 200mg as I am a bit sensitive to the caffeine content.

However you decide to enjoy your green tea I assure you that it is well worth it. The tea and supplements are easily available in major pharmacies but be sure to read all labels before buying so that you are buying only qualitative products. For more information feel free to contact me.

Thanks, and do have a lovely day.
