Everybody knows 50 cent, he is an award winning rapper, an entrepreneur
and a not too bad actor. But do you actually KNOW 50 cent? Curtis Jackson is a
product of the hard gymnasium of life! We all know how he used to be a drug
dealer, got shot 9 times ! He released on of the greatest hits of the 2000’s “IN
THE CLUB”, also the bestselling debut by an artist ever! He is rich and famous
all this we know, but this article isn’t about that. The real Curtis Jackson is
a very intelligent, committed and competitive individual who has scaled all the
obstacles that life has put in his path to become the success that he is today,
He is also as strong as a bull and built like a tank! Recently he was interviewed
by Bodybuilding.com about his impressive physique and how he maintains it. His
guide to success in fitness is so illuminating that they just had to publish it
as a general guide to success.
50’s rules to fitness
success can be applied to any facet of your life; health, fitness, your carrier
and even relationships. Read and apply them and I guarantee you will be a
winner at whatever you really apply yourself to.
Thanks and do have a wonderful day!
1.
STUDY THE STRENGHTS AND WEAKNESSES OF YOUR
COMPETITION:
The specifics where off the record, but 50
gave a detailed breakdown of what he perceives to be the strengths and
weaknesses of two other top hip hop moguls he considers as his competition Jay
Z and Puffy. He has neither animosity nor admiration for them, like a good CEO
he had simply studied the competition in his industry.
What this means for you:
Even if you are not a competitive person
someone else might be aiming to take what is yours. So sit down and analyze
your game, be frank about your strengths and weaknesses, because someone else
might have already sized you up. You can be a bodybuilder, fitness enthusiast
or just a regular guy trying to keep fit, it will still benefit you to know
your strengths and weaknesses so you can work on them and prevent the
competition from taking advantage of you.
2.
YOUR COMFORT ZONE IS YOUR ENEMY, DESTROY IT! :
After achieving initial fame and fortune 50
could has sat back and basked in the euphoria of his success and money. It wasn’t
enough for someone with his drive, even though it was not his preferred terrain
50 branched out into book publishing, vitamin water, headphones and other
ventures. He didn’t go in as an endorser but as a business owner so that he
could have control in decision making. He also widened his circle of contacts
to include writer Robert Greene, Boxer Floyd Mayweather and Health Guru Deepak Chopra.
What this means for you:
After accomplishing your goal do not sit
back and relax! The goal is not an end to a means but a way of challenging
yourself and proving that you have the inner strength to achieve it. So if your
goal was to lose 5kg or run a marathon and you made it, congratulations! Now use
your new found confidence and strength to surmount a new challenge. It works in
the gym and it will work in real life.
3.
DON’T LET THE PEOPLE WHO ARE CLOSE TAKE
ADVANTAGE OF YOU:
Karma doesn’t always work in life, it is a well-known
story that people who have benefitted from your success can turn around and
cause you problems. 50 explains about the time that friends he would bring on
tour would start disrupting his shows, what did he do? He took no nonsense and
kicked them out!
What this means for you:
As you achieve success people will want to
climb your coattails. Initially you will probably be happy to help a friend
out, but if they start to misbehave get rid of them before they start to affect
your business or relationship with clients. This also goes for the gym, if you
have a friend who is disruptive and unserious it is only a matter of time until
he starts to affect your training. Stay away from such people in the gym and in
life generally.
4.
SETBACKS
LEAVE A BIGGER MARK ON YOU THAN VICTORIES. LEARN FROM THEM SO THAT YOU DON’T REPEAT
THEM:
For 50, the years he spent struggling loom
larger than the years of success. You never quite forget how hard it was and
how bad it was. He says “if I ask you when was the last time you cried, the
memory would probably change your expression”. However if you were asked when
last you laughed it would not have much of an impact on you.
What this means for you:
If you’ve ever suffered an injury or gotten
really out of shape and ridiculed for it, don’t try to forget it. That’s part
of who you are, just as much as your shining triumphs. If you are still
struggling- like we all have you can either wallow in grief or channel that
energy into making the most of the cards you are dealt in life.
5.
STOP THINKING IN TERMS OF LIMITS:
“If I set my mind to something I think I can
do it” says 50. “I am so far away from where I started that I believe I can do
anything. Do you know you can make a million dollars selling peanuts? I did it
selling water!”
What this means for you:
Have you seen the before and after pictures
of people who lost weight or build muscle? When you compare them it looks impossible
right? Wrong! If those people hadn’t believed in themselves they would still be
overweight and unhealthy. Whatever the challenge be it in fitness or finance
never defeat yourself mentally. Try, and believe you can do it . Then late
nature take care of the rest.
